A plant known for thousands of years to have various uses and benefits, ginger is a key ingredient used in cooking, in teas and notably in beauty products! But this renowned spice is also a pillar of hair care. A true multi-purpose treatment, ginger is an excellent hair loss remedy, a remedy against dandruff and a hair growth accelerator.
 

There are more than a hundred species of ginger, but it is the common or officinal ginger that is most often found in supermarkets. Its roots are used in cooking, cosmetics and pharmacopoeia. This is a plant with delicately scented flowers that is only ginger in name, as it does not belong to the same botanical family as the ginger we’re used to. However, it has the same taste and smell. It is found in the wild throughout South-East Asia, in many provinces of India and Tibet, but also in America, on the lush slopes of the Hawaiian Islands. A medicinal plant used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, wild ginger has antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It relieves fever and helps with poor blood circulation. It is also used as a remedy for digestive disorders and certain liver diseases. 
 

Wild ginger for anti-dandruff

René Furterer went to Madagascar to study this plant in-depth. Its orange flower has earned it the nickname " ginger shampoo " as once squeezed, the ginger juice foams and leaves a pleasant texture on dry hair, allowing for easier detangling. 
From its rhizome, our botanical experts have succeeded in extracting an active ingredient with unique properties: zerumbone, a molecule found in the wild plant. It has now been patented for its anti-dandruff effects. Laboratory tests have shown similar effectiveness to zinc pyrithione, the best known chemical active ingredient for anti-dandruff treatment.
