Cultivated in France, this African-origin plant is called dye sorghum.

Humans have been using sorghum for almost 8000 years. In the 19th century, several non-edible species were cultivated exclusively for red coloring.

Nowadays, sorghum is the 5th most cultivated cereal in the world. 40% of all sorghum produced is for human or animal consumption.

Sorghum is considered a plant for the future with newfound benefits, particularly as a source of biofuels (sweet sorghum) and new biomaterials (sorghum fiber).

NATURALNESS AND EFFECTIVENESS

Our Sorghum leaf extract is 100% natural and organically grown.

It is grown in France, in Charente-Maritime and Deux-Sèvres.

The extract is obtained by sowing the seeds on a ground that is sufficiently warm (over 10-12°C),removing the upper part when they go to seed, then harvesting the leafy stems. At its heart, the stem concentrates sugars and polyphenols. The dye sorghum’s rare anthocyanins, mainly made up of the stem and leafy stems’ red colorant, are abundant. The stems must be harvested at the ripe grain stage, removing the upper part of the seeds.

Our specific variety provides a concentrated extract to create red to brown tones. It has a main cylindrical stalk, green on the outside, but red at the center.
