Behind the scenes of the hair spa
My hair is not in the best shape. What if I'm not using the right products? What if I have bad habits? What if, deep down, I don't really know my hair? I decide to go to the René Furterer Hair Spa, nestled in a very quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of the Madeleine district of Paris. I embark on an initiation journey.
Marie, 29, tells us about her spa experience.
My hair is unique
Christelle, one of the hairstylists, invites me to join her in the hair diagnosis cabin: this is the compulsory step before any personalized treatment. My hair is going to be examined with a fine-tooth comb... She asks me a few questions about my current hair routine: how often I wash my hair, the types of products I use and any problems I may have.
Then it's time for the capilliscope analysis, a device with a microscope camera that magnifies the scalp by 100 times. It allows her to closely analyze my scalp as well as some hair samples taken. The technician then lists the Furterer products that will be applied during the treatment to make up for my deficiencies and restore my hair's balance.

An intimate cocoon for a tailor-made hair treatment
I sit comfortably in the upstairs salon, which subtly smells of essential oils; it's very relaxing. Christelle tilts the chair back and proceeds to massage my shoulders, neck and scalp. My hair is simultaneously combed with two boar bristle brushes. Once the microcirculation has been revived, she proceeds to apply the famous Complexe 5, a true concentrate of stimulating essential oils to care for my hair in depth and restore its shine and vitality. I’m enchanted by the sweet fragrance of orange and lavender. Christelle applies shiatsu-inspired finger pressure to my head. Intense relaxation ensues.
A shampoo adapted to my scalp and a treatment tailored to my hair are then applied: Curbicia shampoo, followed by the Karité Hydra Hydrating Shine Mask, Lumicia Illuminating Shine Rinse and a moisturizing styling cream, enriched with a few drops of Karinga Ultimate Nourishing Oil. A blow-out later reveals beautiful results: shine, volume and renewed strength throughout my hair. And I feel wonderfully relaxed.
A true rebirth at the hair spa.
I will leave with my own ritual of products adapted to my scalp and my hair, in order to continue the hair care at home. Because the experience – besides being very pleasant – is also instructive. You understand that everyone’s hair is unique. Never before had anyone looked at and cared for my hair so closely. And the sensory power of the essential oils remains with me long after the treatment.
